PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent light irradiation/non-irradiation from frequently occurring irrespective of positions of an own vehicle and a vehicle in front.SOLUTION: A device for controlling the lighting of vehicle headlights includes: a vehicle detection unit 12 for detecting the position information of a vehicle in front based on an image of a view in front of the own vehicle captured by a camera 11; a vehicle existence level determination unit 13 for determining, based on the position information of the vehicle in front, an existence level of the vehicle in front within a predetermined period for each of a plurality of irradiation areas irradiated by vehicle headlights; and a light distribution control unit 14 for selecting a light irradiation area which is irradiated with light in response to the existence level of the vehicle in front in each of the plurality of light irradiation areas, setting a light distribution pattern, and generating a control signal according to the light distribution pattern. |
