PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely discriminate an end of an original conveyed through a conveyance path.SOLUTION: An image reader (U3) includes: a light transmitting member (PG) which is previously set on a conveyance path (2), is placed in an original reading position (Pr) where a passing original (Gi) is read and through which light can transmit; a light source device (11) which is placed on an opposite side of the conveyance path (2) across the light transmitting member (PG) and irradiates the original (Gi) passing through the original reading position (Pr) with the light passing through the light transmitting member (PG); a reading section (7) for reading an image of the original (Gi) in response to reflected light from the original (Gi); and a reflection member (28) which is placed on the opposite side of the light transmitting member (PG) across the conveyance path (2) and reflects the light transmitted through the light transmitting member (PG) toward a light receiving element (CCD). The image reader discriminates an end of the original (Gi) passing through the original reading position (Pr) according to intensity of the received light. |
