An air bag device is provided to minimize damage to a passenger by installing a damage reduction unit for preventing gas from discharging or for discharging gas to the outside according to the seated condition of passenger. An air bag device comprises a cushion(20), and a damage reduction unit. The cushion develops gas generated from an inflator in collision of vehicle to a passenger. The damage reduction unit is installed at one side of the cushion to prevent gas from discharging if the passenger is in normal seated condition, and to discharge gas to the outside if the passenger is in abnormal seated condition in initially developing the cushion. The damage reduction unit consists of a cinching vent hole, a cinching tether(34), and a tether holder(36) movably engaged with a center portion of the cinching tether. |
