PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for readily forming a magnetic layer with magnetic particles highly distributed therein.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing magnetic particles modified in surface property comprises the steps of: adding, to an aqueous magnetic liquid having an acid aqueous solvent and magnetic particles distributed therein, a carboxylic acid-based compound selected from a group consisting of an aromatic compound and an aliphatic compound, each having a carboxylic acid (salt)base expressed by the following formula [in which M represents a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom], with proviso that if the carboxylic acid-based compound includes one carboxylic acid (salt)base in a molecule, a part of the molecule except the carboxylic acid (salt)base has 1 or more and 13 or less carbon atoms; and then collecting the resultant magnetic particles from the aqueous magnetic liquid. Thus, the magnetic particles modified in surface property by deposition of the compound are obtained. |
