摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain a fall in production efficiency due to the interruption of welding caused by the operation of protection control for a usage rate of a welding power source.SOLUTION: A protection control method for a welding power source includes computing the average value Si of a square of a welding current every moment for the past 10 minutes, and intercepting the energization of the welding current based on the average value Si. In this protection control method, when the average value Si reaches a usage rate reference value St, a temperature detection value Hd of a temperature sensor provided in a welding power source when continuing welding to the end, is estimated, and a temperature estimated value Hs is compared with a temperature reference value Ht. In the case of Hs<Ht, welding is continued to the end, and in the case of Hs&ge;Ht, the energization of the welding current Iw is intercepted to stop welding. Consequently, since welding is continued when temperature detection value Hd of the temperature sensor is assumed to be less than the temperature reference value Ht that does not have an adverse effect on the welding power source even if welding is continued to the end, a fall in production efficiency can be restrained.
