The present invention relates to a valve device for a muffler and, more particularly, to a valve device for a muffler consisting of a structure inserted into a pipe for a muffler in order to open and close the passage. The valve device for a muffler according to the present invention comprises: a housing installed on one end of a pipe for a muffler; and a valve member pivotably installed at the housing by means of a shaft and a spring member, wherein the valve member pivots between a closed position and an open position, the closed position being a position in which the valve member partially closes one end of the pipe for the muffler, and the open position being a position in which the valve member is inserted into the pipe for the muffler and opens the end of the pipe for the muffler.
