PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit the execution of small-face correction processing that results in an unnatural image. SOLUTION: The small-face correction processing is executed, only when a recognition rotation angle of a face recognized from an image lies within ranges (hatched ranges in Figure) of 30 degrees centered about 0, 90 and 270 degrees, that is, the ranges are recognized as 345 to 15, 75 to 105, and 255 to 285 degrees, and within the other ranges, the small-face correction processing is not executed. That is, for example, when it is recognized that the head is turned downward, that is, that the recognition rotation angle is 180 degrees, small-face correction processing Z1 is not executed. In this way, by not executing the small-face correction processing Z1 when the recognition rotation angle is 180 degrees, correction that results in a head section becoming thin is prevented from being performed.
