626,092. Bow-collectors. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Jan. 10, 1947, No. 913. Convention date, Jan. 12, 1946. [Class 104 (iii)] An inverted channel-shaped bowcollector has one or more openings in the central web and/or in the depending flanges to alter the normal air flow and thereby reduce the air-lift pressure difference between the top and bottom. Thecentralweb 17 has an elongated slot 20 while the depending flanges 18 have spaced openings 22 throughout their length. The arrangement reduces the co-efficient of lift and makes the bow aerodynamically stable. The bow may be reinforced by spacers 19 and bolts 21 between the flanges 18. The bow is supported on a pantograph by members 14 pivoted at 15 in the depending horns 12 which are bolted to the inverted channel portions. |
