PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organometallic complex with high emission efficiency which achieves improved color purity by reducing a half width of an emission spectrum, as a new substance having a new skeleton.SOLUTION: An organometallic complex in which a six-membered heteroaromatic ring including two or more nitrogen atoms, inclusive of a coordinating nitrogen atom, and a &bgr;-diketone are ligands is represented by general formula (G1) (wherein X represents a substituted or unsubstituted six-membered heteroaromatic ring including two or more nitrogen atoms, inclusive of a coordinating nitrogen atom; and further, each of Rto Rrepresents a 1-6C alkyl group).
