PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device having an image signal processing circuit configured with an arithmetic circuit capable of achieving both of a smooth tone display and a reduction of power consumption by a data electrode drive circuit.SOLUTION: The image display device includes: an upper and lower code generating section that generates an upper tone code which has a tone larger than the image signal of the pixel and closest thereto and a lower tone code smaller than the image signal of the pixel and closest thereto; and a display code selection section 80 that spreads an error generated at the pixel to periphery pixels and circulates the image signal of the pixel to periphery pixels; calculates a tone to be displayed by adding the error, which is spread from the periphery pixel to the pixel, and the image signal, which is circulated from the periphery pixels to the pixel, to the image signal of the pixel; and selects a sub-field code that has a tone close to the tone to be displayed in the upper tone code and the lower tone code as a display code. With this, the tone is displayed by controlling each pixel to turn on/not to turn on in each sub-field using the display code. |
