730,138. Mounting vehicle windows; mouldings. HALLAM, SLEIGH & CHESTON, Ltd. April 28, 1954 [July 9, 1953], No. 19007/53. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4). A one-piece rubber glazing strip particularly for mounting a window, or windscreen, panel 1 of a vehicle upon an upstanding flange 7 of a window surround 2, has a flat, or concave, base 4 adapted to seat upon a part 5 of the frame 2 and a channel 9 in its upper part to receive the panel 1, the inner side wall 10 of the channel being provided with an integral depending flange 11 to form a downwardly open groove 12 to receive the flange 7, the other side wall 13 being formed with an integral buttress flap 14 which extends from the top edge of the wall 13 and has its free edge stepped at 15 to interlockingly engage a longitudinal groove 16 formed in the lower portion of the strip. To fit the panel 1, the wall 13 of the strip, with the flap 14 disengaged from the groove 16, is flexed outwardly to permit the introduction of the panel 1, whereupon the wall 13 is allowed to spring back against the panel and the flap 14 is sprung into engagement with the groove 16, the flap 14 being put in compression in the direction of its length so that the wall 13 is pressed firmly against the face of the panel. The panel 1, when thus fitted into the strip, can be inserted into the frame 2 by springing the flange 11 over the upstanding flange 7. Alternatively, the strip may, in the first instance, be fitted to the flange 7. |
