PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: even if a rubbing member is arranged in contact manner in order to prevent an end part of a heating member from being worn by paper dust, image unevenness may occur in a certain kind of recording members; and when one of a plurality of rubbing members arranged in one fixing unit and having different longitudinal polishing forces is selected in accordance with a degree of flaw and a degree of uneven glossiness, configuration of the fixing unit is complicated and the device is enlarged.SOLUTION: The fixing unit includes: a drive roller and a pressure roller which can be pressurized and separated from each other; an endless fixing belt; and a rubbing member for rubbing the endless fixing belt. The fixing unit has a first rubbing mode in which the pressure roller is located in a separate position (the amount of deflection of the rubbing member is large), and a second rubbing mode in which the pressure roller is located in a pressure position (the amount of deflection of the rubbing member is small). A longitudinal rubbing distribution can be varied. |
