Feed by dogs.-In feed mechanism of the kind claimed in the parent Specification, the inner end of the rigid feed lever 3 is connected at 26 to a transverse lever 11 which is connected at one end 25 to an arm 12 mounted on a transversely movable pivot 13 and is oscillated by a pitman 9 connected to its other end and actuated by an eccentric 10 on a vertical shaft driven by worm gear from the shuttle shaft. In the form shown the pivot 13 is carried by an arm 14 on a vertical spindle provided at its upper end with a hand-lever for adjusting its position, the distance between the pivots 13, 25 being the same as that between the pivots 26, 25, so that the pivot 13 may be placed coaxial with 26, in which position no movement of the lever 3 is produced, and may be moved to various places on either side of the lever 11 to give feed movements of varying amounts in either direction. The feed-lift lever 18 is actuated by a face cam 17 on the worm gear. In a modification the shaft of the eccentric 10 may be horizontal, the cam 17 then being of the ordinary type and the pitman 9 being ball-jointed to the lever 11; in either form the eccentric and pitman may be replaced by other means for converting rotary into reciprocating movement. |
