摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new iridium complex capable of emitting short-wavelength phosphorescence (phosphorescence with a wavelength shorter than that of green light).SOLUTION: A tris-type iridium complex in which a ligand having a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocyclic skeleton with a predetermined structure is coordinated is provided. The ligand has a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocyclic skeleton composed of two to four nitrogen atoms and carbon atoms. In the skeleton, an aryl group is bonded to a carbon atom on both sides of which nitrogen atoms are positioned, and a 9-10C tricycloalkyl group having a bridge structure is bonded to one of the two nitrogen atoms positioned on both sides of the carbon atom. Also in the ligand, the other nitrogen atom out of two nitrogen atoms holding the carbon atom with the aryl group bonded thereto in between is coordinated to iridium, and one of carbon atoms of the aryl group is bonded to iridium to form the complex. The iridium complex is a tris-type complex in which three of the ligands are coordinated to iridium.
