PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To homogenize leakage of light near an edge of each pixel when a display device is observed particularly in a direction opposite to a viewing direction and to improve the display quality.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate; a first electrode 11 disposed on one surface of the first substrate and extending in a first direction; a second electrode disposed on one surface of the second substrate and extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the one surface of the first substrate and the one surface of the second substrate. A pixel is structured in a region where the first electrode 11 and the second electrode 12 intersect with each other. A pixel edge of the pixel has a line segment oblique to the first direction. The first substrate and the second substrate are each subjected to an alignment treatment. The liquid crystal layer exhibits substantially vertical alignment with a twisted structure, in which an alignment direction 25 of the liquid crystal molecules at an approximately center in a layer thickness direction is not orthogonal to the oblique line segment. |
