PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect thickness of a paper-like medium by simple structure.SOLUTION: A discrimination part 14 fixes a fixation part 45A of a pressing support 45 to a housing 20, engages a detection axis 43 into an axis support part 45C extended via a deformation connection part 45B which elastically deforms from the fixation part 45A, and detects displacement magnitude at an upper side face part 45CX of the axis support part 45C by a displacement sensor 48, in respective thickness detection units 25A-25D of a thickness detection part 25. Then, the discrimination part 14 obtains displacement magnitude of a detection roller 44 on the basis of the displacement magnitude of the upper side face part 45CX to detect thickness of a bill BL in the respective thickness detection units 25A-25D. Thus, the discrimination part 14 can similarly detect the thickness of the bill BL by structure drastically simplified compared to that in the conventional case. |
