PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable image forming system that can be easily configured for a variety of transducer array types and processing techniques and that easily accommodates processor and software enhancements.SOLUTION: The portable and configurable ultrasonic system 100 is connected to a portable ultrasonic processor 102, and uses a phased ultrasonic transducer array 200 to develop ultrasonic images. The ultrasonic system 100, when used together with a sector phased array, uses processing channels related to each element of the transducer array 200, when used together with a linear or curved linear transducer array, uses fewer processing channels than the transducer array to form ultrasonic images. The ultrasonic processor 102 is scalable and can form a large number of different ultrasonic images by using a variety of processors, software and transducer arrays. |
