The process involves introducing feed air stream into a cooler (300) positioned downstream of an intercooler (202) and upstream of a stage of an air compression system. A part of a feed air stream (7) is introduced into an aftercooler (203) downstream of a last stage (103) of the air compression system. The part of the feed air stream is cooled in the aftercooler by indirect heat exchange with a heat carrier stream (15). A part of a heat carrier (316) is heated in the aftercooler forming a part of another heat carrier stream (311) that is introduced into the intercooler. An independent claim is also included for an integrated device for liquid air separation and steam generation with a combined system.
