A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to improve luminance of corner units of four surfaces of an LC panel by using first and second light guide units of a support side, thereby providing uniform luminance over the whole LC panel. Plural lamps are received on a bottom case, and generate light. An electrode protection unit(140c) has plural couples of open grooves for protecting an electrode unit disposed in both ends of the lamp. Light guide units(140b) are formed in both ends of the electrode protection unit as being received in a corner unit of the bottom case, and reflect the light generated from the lamp. |
