PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a droplet discharge device capable of detecting abnormal discharge without providing a special detection device by detecting abnormal discharge of a nozzle using a composition for adjusting discharge characteristics.SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 1 includes: a plurality of heaters 50 provided in a plurality of individual ink channels 27, respectively; a plurality of temperature sensors 51; a discharge characteristics adjusting part for adjusting discharge characteristics of the plurality of nozzles 16; and an abnormal discharge detection part for detecting abnormal discharges of the plurality of nozzles 16. The discharge characteristics adjusting part controls ink temperatures in the plurality of individual ink channels 27 using the heater 50 and the temperature sensors 51 so that variation in the discharge characteristics among the plurality of nozzles 16 is suppressed. The abnormal discharge detection part detects the abnormal discharges of the plurality of nozzles 16 based on the change in temperatures in the individual ink channels 27 when the droplets are discharged from the nozzles 16 while or after the ink in the individual ink channels 27 is heated by the heater 50. |
