Method for computer-based design of an automation system

The method involves detecting one or more inputs of a user at a user interface for specifying legal and/or illegal communication relationship between field devices (FG) e.g. sensors, in a communication network i.e. Ethernet network. Security configuration parameters for communication components of one of the devices are determined according to the communication relation. The security configuration parameters associated with the respective communication components are processed through the respective communication components. The field devices comprise Ethernet switches (ES1-ES3) and memory programmable controllers (CO1-CO3). The communication components comprise fire walls (FW1-FW3) and/or network address translation-router. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for computer aided design of an automation system (2) a computer program product comprising instructions for computer aided design of an industrial automation system (3) a computer program comprising instructions for computer aided design of an industrial automation system.
