The method involves guiding fluid cutting jet left from a nozzle that is positioned in a cutting head. Interrupting agent e.g. fluid medium or gaseous medium, is laterally supplied to the cutting jet for interrupting cutting after a nozzle outlet, where the interrupting agent decreases energy density of the cutting jet. An interrupting bolt is guided as the interrupting agent into the cutting jet. Slot-shaped passage openings (2) are tapered down along a passage direction of the cutting jet, and are separated from each other by bars. An independent claim is also included for a dimensionally stable filter-or sieve insert.
