The method involves introducing a volumetric flow into an inlet opening (2) of a measurement hopper (4) of a measurement device (1). The volumetric flow is supplied to an anemometer (5) through an exhaust opening (3) of the measurement hopper. A tubular adapter piece (6) with a flow rectifier (8) is inserted between the exhaust opening and the anemometer. The volumetric flow is supplied from the exhaust opening to the anemometer through the adapter piece, where the flow rectifier is arranged at a tube end (9) of the adapter piece and comprises passage openings (5). The anemometer is designed as a vane wheel anemometer. An independent claim is also included for a measurement device for measuring a volumetric flow.
