PURPOSE: A promising technology determination method and a system thereof are provided to search for technologies in a variety of documents and to offer information about fast rowing technologies, technologies related and similar to the leading technologies, and soon-to-be-stabilized technologies, thereby enabling the forecast of the technologies. CONSTITUTION: A promising technology determination system extracts technologies and years by analyzing documents which are stored in a multi-document providing system (S702) and accumulates the documents related to each technology by year (S704). The promising technology determination system calculates the relative growth rate and the average growth rate of each technology using the accumulation number of documents by year (S706). The promising technology determination system picks technologies of which the ratio of the accumulated number of documents for a preset recent period of time to the accumulated number of documents for a preset past period of time is greater than a certain value (S708). The promising technology determination system examines whether or not the relative growth rate of the picked technologies is equal to or greater than the average growth rate (S710).
