PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substance useful for OLED devices.SOLUTION: There is provided a new phosphorescent heteroleptic iridium complex with substituted phenylquinoline ligands. The alkyl substituent on the phenylquinoline ligand together with a larger alkyl substituent on a ligand derived from acetylacetonate produces a complex having improved properties that is useful when incorporated into OLED devices.
