A selective embossing tool comprises a strip advancing means operative after each embossing operation, and means for rendering the strip advancing means inoperative for over-embossing, for example for accenting. The strip advancing means comprises a pawl 64 pivoted to a die actuating trigger 36 and acting on a ratchet-wheel 58 for strip feed as the trigger returns to its normal position. A button (72, Figs. 2, 3, 7, 8) formed on a member 74 may be pushed to cam the pawl to an inoperative position shown in dashed lines. |
