PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a static eliminating device for detecting abnormal discharging even when an amount of metal present around the device varies.SOLUTION: A static eliminating device 10 comprises: a discharge needle 2; a high-voltage generation unit 20 for applying a high-voltage pulse to the discharge needle 2; a current detection circuit 6 for detecting a current value of a discharging current Ih generated by applying the high-voltage pulse to the discharge needle 2; a voltage adjustment circuit 7 for adjusting voltage values of a high voltage and a low voltage of the high-voltage pulse; and a control circuit 5 for comparing the current value of the discharge current Ih detected by the current detection circuit 6 with a reference current value K and detecting abnormal discharging. The control circuit 5 makes the voltage values of the high voltage and the low voltage of the high-voltage pulse lower than the voltage values of the high voltage and the low voltage during normal static elimination by a defined voltage level for a defined time KE, so as to set the reference current value K to the high-voltage generation unit 20 using the current value of the discharge current Ih detected by the current detection circuit 6 when the high-voltage pulse of the voltage value is applied to the discharge needle 2.
