PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video processing device, an upgrade device, a display system, and a control method therefor capable of upgrading a display device function by easily adding or expanding a new function or a sophisticated function to the display device.SOLUTION: A video processing device 100 includes: a signal input unit 110; a first video processing unit 130 which processes the input signal input by the signal input unit and outputs a first output signal; an upgrade device connection unit 160 to which an upgrade device 200 with a second video processing unit 220 can be connected; and a first control unit 140 which controls at least one of the input signal processed by the first video processing unit and the first output signal to be transmitted to the upgrade device and processed by the second video processing unit if the upgrade device is connected to the upgrade device connection unit.
