A portable terminal having an alarm function and an alarm setup method thereof are provided to operate alarm time by using the current position of the portable terminal and destination information, thereby increasing convenience by reducing a user's inconvenience of setting new alarms whenever the current location information is changed. An input unit(100) inputs input information requested for setting an alarm. A storage unit(110) stores the input information, each piece of transportation information, and alarm time. A GPS(Global Positioning System) module(130) receives the current position from a satellite. A controller(150) changes alarm setup by operating the alarm time according to the current position on the basis of the input information and each piece of the transportation information. An operating unit(140) calculates alarm time based on the required time received through a communication unit(120), arriving time and preparation time. |
