A method for controlling a video file is provided to prevent stop of a reproducing operation by reducing file information of a video file to be reproduced with capacity information of a codec installed in a device. A method for controlling a video file comprises a first step of searching the resolution and the FPS(Frame Per Second) recorded on a header area of the video file to be reproduced and comparing the resolution and the FPS of the video file with those of a codec installed in a device, and a second step of reducing more than one of the resolution and the FPS of the video file according to the result from the first step. |
