PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device with improved separating/feeding performance of a sheet stored in a sheet storage unit, and to provide an image forming apparatus provided with the same.SOLUTION: A sheet feeding device includes a sheet storage unit 21, a pickup roller 30, a driving motor 34 for rotating and driving the pickup roller 30, a feed roller 31 and a separating roller 32 for separating and feeding the sheet, and a first drive transmission mechanism 4 allowing the pickup roller 30 to perform intermittent rotation at least two times while one sheet is fed. The first drive transmission mechanism 4 has an input gear 44 having a plurality of protrusions 44a-44d, and a flapper solenoid 45 for regulating the rotation of the input gear 44 in engagement with the protrusions 44a-44d. The flapper solenoid 45 engages with the protrusions 44a-44d to regulate the rotation of the input gear 44, and then the rotation of the pickup roller 30 is stopped. When releasing the engagement between the flapper solenoid 45 and the protrusions 44a-44d, the input gear 44 rotates and the pickup roller 30 is rotated. |
