<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor emitting yellow color to orange color or orange color to red color when exited with a near ultraviolet region to blue region light and high in brightness and luminous efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The phosphor comprises a nitride or oxynitride as the base and has an activator element M<SP>1</SP>, wherein ≥85 mol% of the activator element M<SP>1</SP>has a lower valence than the maximum oxidation number. The phosphor is preferably produced by using an alloy as the raw material and the luminescent peak wave length is ≥590 nm but ≤650 nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
