PURPOSE: A tire pressure monitoring system and a method thereof are provided to improve driving stability by improving wheel balance performances. CONSTITUTION: A tire pressure monitoring system (100) comprises a sensor module (110), an electric control system (120), and an information output unit (130). The sensor module is installed on a wheel shaft (12) of a vehicle and measures a distance from a mounting position of the wheel shaft to the ground. The electric control system receives distance data measured by the sensor module and determines abnormality or normality in the state of air pressure through average calculations and comparison calculation of the received distance data. The information output unit outputs information determined by the electric control system in order to supply the information to a driver.
