The channel (10) has an inlet (31) fluidically connected with an elongated, tub-shaped channel body (11) such that water from the tub-shaped channel body reaches through the inlet into an outlet housing (20) and is delivered through an outlet (32). The tub-shaped channel body is designed for wall installation into a vertical wall. The outlet housing is formed as an odor closure device, which is spatially viewed and arranged below the channel body. The outlet housing is installed in a bottom portion (17), which is provided in a horizontal projection in front of the vertical wall. An independent claim is also included for a sanitary appliance.
