A range hood for mounting onto a range provides an exhaust fan which draws air from the region over the appliance and exhausts the air about the periphery of the range hood, optionally after filtration. The range hood readily mounts onto various types of appliances and is designed such that its center of mass is generally over the range. The top of the range hood is preferably designed to accommodate a smaller countertop appliance, thereby freeing up surrounding counter space for other uses, and can optionally be raised or lowered to bring the small appliance down to a comfortable height for an individual using the appliance, and to return to a raised position when the range or other cooking appliance is in use. |
