The method involves signing a document (D) using an object (1) and/or authorizing a process using the object. Electronic storage or intermediate storage of metadata (MD) e.g. location (O) and time (T), of the signing/authorization on the object is carried out such that the metadata is called or verified within a preset time span by an authorized person. The electronically stored or intermediate stored metadata is automatically transferred into an external memory (EM) as soon as data transmission is allowed.
