<p>The present invention provides a configuration having a light source (1) with a light volume adjustment function, and a spatial light modulator (2) and projection lens (3) for projecting an image through the combination of R, G, and B corresponding to a video signal (5) using light from the light source (1) with a light volume adjustment function; wherein the configuration has a light source controller (4) for controlling light volume from the light source (1) on the basis of an image brightness level from the video signal (5). The light source controller (4) is provided in order that the R, G, and B combination of the image from the video signal (5) display or project a white image, and controls the light volume from the light source (1) on the basis of a brightness level which excludes a caption area in which the brightness level reaches or exceeds a predetermined value.</p> |
