Pharmaceutical Compositions for Preventing or Treating Arthritis Comprising Cynanchum Atratum Extracts

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing Cynanchum atratum extract is provided to suppress NO and TNF-alpha generation without toxicity and side effect. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating arthritis contains steroidal glucoside of chemical formula 1 isolated from Cynanchum atratum. A method for preparing the steroidal glucoside comprises: a step of adding 5-20L of water or alcohol solvent to 1kg of dry Cynanchum atratum roots and placing at 20-50°C for 0.5-2 days; a step of filtering and decompressing to prepare alcohol extract; a step of adding mixture solvent of water and hexane to the alcohol extract and adding chloroform to isolated an aqueous layer to isolate an organic material; and a step of fractioning the organic material by chromatography.
