PURPOSE: A horizontal position sensing apparatus of a washing machine is provided to provide a state of the washing machine to a user or an engineer in case a horizontal state of the washing machine is not stable when installing the washing machine or a state of a washing tub is unbalanced during dehydration, thereby easily checking a horizontal and unbalanced state of the washing machine. CONSTITUTION: Position sensors (20) separately positioned in an upper part of a cabinet of a washing machine detects a horizontal position and vibration of the washing machine. A control unit (30) determines a horizontal and unbalanced state of the washing machine from sensor values inputted from the position sensors.
