A modeling apparatus is described comprising an input buffer (20) operable to receive image data (12) representing an image of one or more objects (14) from a viewpoint; an image processor (22) operable to determine relative depths of portions objects appearing in the image (12) as viewed from the viewpoint; a depth map generator (26) operable to assign portions of an image (12), depth data on the basis of relative depths determined by the image processor (22); and a controller (30) operable to generate instructions to control a machine tool to generate a three dimensional relief (40) of an image on the basis of depth data assigned to portions of an image by the depth map generator (26) and color the generated relief utilizing received image data (12). |
