The invention relates to a device and a method for analysis of biological specimens. The device has a control unit into which a kit can be inserted that contains markers required for the analysis of a biological specimen and test records needed therefore. The markers and instructions from the test records are transferred from the kit to the control unit and from thence fed to the individual units of the device.
