PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting the connecting pipe of a hot stove for a blast furnace are provided to initially detect damage to the steel shell of the pipe and to quickly and accurately identify the abnormality of the pipe. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting the connecting pipe of a hot stove for a blast furnace includes a noise detecting part (110), a pressure detecting part (120), a temperature detecting part (130), a cooling gas feeding part (140), a comparing and determining part (150), a control part (160), and a display part (170). The noise detecting part detects air leakage noise due to damage to the pipe. The pressure detecting part detects the pressure of hot air passing inside the pipe in real time. The temperature detecting part detects the temperature of atmosphere inside the outer steel shell of the pipe in real time. The cooling gas feeding part feeds a cooling gas inside the outer steel shell. The comparing and determining part respectively compares the measuring values of the noise, the pressure, and the temperature with predetermined values, and then determines whether or not the pipe is normal. The control part automatically controls the cooling gas feeding part according to determination whether or not the pipe is normal. The display part displays the abnormality of the pipe in real time.
