PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal nanoparticles which have small particle diameters and also are more uniform.SOLUTION: A solution including an alcohol-based solvent, a metal salt insoluble in the alcohol-based solvent and a dispersant having a ≥8C hydrocarbon group is heated with infrared rays, thus the metal salt is reduced in the alcohol-based solvent under coexistence of the dispersant to form metal nanoparticles.
