PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device capable of taking good measures considering the convenience of a user, when a filter device is not installed.SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes: a filter cassette 40 for removing dust; a filter detecting portion (a control portion 801 and a rotation sensor 810) for detecting the presence/absence of installation of the filter cassette 40; an indicator portion 107 for informing of a non-installation state of the filter cassette 40; and the control portion 801 for driving a lamp unit 201 and a display unit 203 to execute projection operation. The control portion 801 actuates the indicator portion 107, suspends the actuation of the lamp unit 201 and the display unit 203, if the non-installation state of the filter cassette 40 is detected when starting the projection operation, and actuates the indicator portion 107 and continues the projection operation if the non-installation state of the filter cassette 40 is detected during the projection operation. |
