APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING TOOL CHANGER IN NUMERICAL CONTROL

PURPOSE: A device to control an exchange of tools and a method thereof are provided to reduce unnecessary time by moving a turret using a second starting point return or by moving the position of the turret to exchange the tool when the tool is exchanged in a processing process of a biaxial turret device. CONSTITUTION: A device (100) to control an exchange of tools comprises a tool information analyzing unit (192), a data comparing unit (194), and a position interpreting unit (196). The tool information analyzing unit checks a rotational direction of a turret according to a tool exchange command and checks one or more tools positioned between a current tool and an exchanged tool. The data comparing unit calculates a difference between an offset quantity of the current tool and an offset quantity of one or more tools and selects a tool in which is the closest to a base material. The position interpreting unit calculates a transfer position quantity in which the tool can be exchanged to prevent a collision with the base material using an end point position coordinate of a tool selected in the data comparing unit and an outermost position coordinate of the base material.
