PURPOSE: A control method and an apparatus for battery charging and discharging for an on-line electric vehicle are provided to prevent battery life from being reduced due to frequent battery charging and discharging using power collected by a current collector for driving the electric vehicle and charging a battery. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(510) controls charging and discharging of a battery in an on-line electric vehicle. An input side charging switch(530) supplies charging power to the battery or stops supplying the charging power. An output side discharging switch(540) supplies or stops discharging power from/to the battery. A current collector driving control unit(550) controls the drive of a current collector. A collection power control unit(560) controls the collection power of the current collector in order to be used for driving the one-line electric vehicle.
