PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test device for a centrifugal compressor stage.SOLUTION: A method and device for obtaining non-extrapolated empirical data associated with performance characteristics of a compressor in an operation area from an approximately zero head value to a negative head value is provided. A test loop is formed so that an auxiliary compressor is connected to a test compressor from input to output of each compressor by loops, and is operated in a head area from a desired approximately zero head value to a negative head value. During operation in the are, data is collected from sensors adjacent to a process fluid input and a process fluid output of the text compressor.
