[Also in Group XXV] A wedge-device for removing a conical-tool 12 from a socket 11, comprises opposed wedges 1, 2 insertable through a slot 13 in the socket and relatively slidable to press the tool and socket apart. Wedge 2 has serrations to grip the tool end and carries a lever 3 on a pivot 3a and a guide 6 for a slide 5 integral with or secured to wedge 1. Gear teeth 4 on the lever engage rack teeth 8 on slide 5 whereby as the lever is turned clockwise, the wedge 1, is moved to the right along relatively stationary wedge 2. Arm 14 pivoted at 15 is positionable as shown in broken lines to increase the overall width of the device for use in wider slots.
