Determination of a communications schedule which interconnects a network of relay nodes using an ordered sequence of communications links, the communications links being established over a wireless resource comprising a plurality of resource blocks. The method comprises generating a plurality of candidate connectivity patterns (CCP) for the ordered sequence of communications links and, for each CCP, generating a plurality of candidate resource allocations (CRA) for providing the ordered sequence of communications links in accordance with that CCP. For each CCP, a performance characteristic is calculated for a selected combination of the CRAs associated with that CCP. Based on a desired level of the performance characteristic, one of the CCPs and its associated selected combination of CRAs is selected as the communications schedule. In response to a trigger, the performance level evaluation process and the selection process are repeated in order to re-select one of the CCPs and its associated selected combination of CRAs to be used as the communications schedule. |
