In the apparatus for chlorinating titanium dioxide &c. disclosed in the parent Specification, each non-porous gas distributer tube comprises a nipple 15 welded to the plate 11, a length of tubing 21 secured thereto by a union 22, and a cup-shaped steel support 23 welded to the union and supporting an aluminium silicate pipe 24 sealed to the said support by an epoxy or silicone resin. The tube is completed by a T-piece 16 carrying a sealing plug 17 and a plug 19 formed with the calibrated orifice 20 through which the chlorine is admitted. The bottom of the fluidized bed comprises a mixture 14 of china clay and alumina cement.</p> |
